Emotional Intelligence vs Assertivity

The concept and importance of Emotional Intelligence has swept the business world with nearly all of the Fortune 500 companies actively engaged in teaching it. The corporate world does not spend their money wantonly. They expect results.

So why do so few doctors know about it? Why is there not training?

Emotional Intelligence is just another name for the empathy that is so often proclaimed as a personal ability and as a goal for the entire medical profession.

A part of the reluctance must be in that name. It is a bad name for anybody claiming scientific qualifications. Emotions are what must be excluded from thought for the Noble Scientific  Ethic of Objectivity. The uninformed 'street' version of what Emotional Intelligence means hardly helps.

They believe that the name Emotional Intelligence means that emotions are intelligent and should be used and trusted for decision making purposes. Emotions are at least as good as intellect and rational thought.

Those that have probably never read one of the core books for the corporate version like the sound of it. They like statements about EQ being at least as important in life as IQ. They think that claiming to have a high EQ makes them clever, as good as or better as an IQ genius.

This total lack of understanding and judging words on whether they sound good or bad, to the user and others, and their effectiveness in making a subjective Lalaland seem like reality is typical of the passive aggressive mindset and communication. See  http://clinicalarts.blogspot.mx/2013/12/selling-best-therapy-assertiveness.html

And of course, there are those so-called experts and self appointed authors with the critical reading skills and objectivity of an anti-vaccinationist who promote Emotional Intelligence in this way to the easily misled passive aggressives for fame and fortune.

It means absolutely nothing of the sort!

Emotional intelligence (EI) is the ability to identify, assess, and control the emotions of oneself, of others, and of groups - Wikipedia

Real Emotional Intelligence, according to its definition, actually describes those of passive aggressives as out of control Emotional Halfwits. In fact, they are the emotionally controlled, not the emotional controllers. Emotional Intelligence starts with being able to identify, assess and control your own emotions with the rational, conscious mind rather than letting them control you! They fail at the first step. They are avoiding taking that first step through confused egoism.

The first step is the identification, assessment and control of your own emotions. Without it other people's emotions will control you. The Emotionally Unintelligent will randomly drag you around with their out of control emotions. The Emotionally Intelligent will consciously control your emotions and indirectly your actions actions and thoughts for whatever motive they have.

Without learning self-discipline and self-control over your own emotions, you become an incompetent emotional manipulator. You may be able to control other people's emotions to great effect but this is achieved by the infectivity of emotions in a society that believes in sympathy; that a problem shared is a problem halved. They can only be led randomly to where your uncontrolled emotions take you. There is no motive, no plan, no fixed objective achieved unless it belongs to another, a controller.

The person with Emotional Intelligence is an actor. They play the part. They have conscious control of their superficial emotions and deliberately affect others with those emotions through sympathy and non-verbal communication. Their conscious mind is in total control. They are faking emotions for effect.

Leading people to believe that they are already Emotionally Intelligent keeps the buying herd exactly where the corporations, advertising and media want them: weakminded, controllable and believing that they are wonderful as they are with no motivation for self betterment or personal development.

As such, Emotional Intelligence has largely replaced the Assertivity model in the corporate world. The triangle between assertivity, passive and aggressive is in too plain English. It is too accessible. It speaks the truth about passive aggressives and they get offended. Better that they believe themselves to be Emotionally Intelligent because critically illiterate pop psy, non-academic 'feminists' and New Age authors tell them whilst behind their backs they are being laughed at.

The most hilarious part of all is that the conspiracy theorists, who are allegedly against these big corporations and their 'mind control', are doing a marvellous job of promoting mind control. And they are promoting the Emotional Dimwittedness as free thinking when it is under the control of the executives, sales and marketing departments.

This has only happened because they have not properly read the definition. They just think the words sound good. They are highly effective on other passive aggressive people who do not know or care what they mean.

Emotional Intelligence is controlling yourself, others and groups, even whole societies through their emotions.

Remember, I have occasionally worked in corporate psychology and know what is going on behind closed doors. It is why I only work very occasionally in sales psychology because I will only work for ethical businesses. I have also worked for governments as one of the few cross-disciplinary advisors on the psychological tools of cultural change in areas such as health, education and societal reform.

Of course, true Emotional Intelligence can be used for good or ill. It depends on the motivation behind them. When used for the long term common good, Emotional Intelligence is high level assertiveness, Flexible Assertivity, when used on others in the short to medium term and Effective Assertiveness when used on a greater scale. When it is used for lower motives of egoism and short term profit, it is not assertiveness but a highly advanced version of the dark arts of sales.

So Emotional Intelligence is high level assertivity at a superficial level but without the invisible, underlying morality of wanting the fairest and best outcome for both sides in the long term. Emotional Intelligence can also be used egoistically for short term profit and gain without any consideration for its victim. In the assertiveness model, this is aggressive sales.

If your job is to market and sell products that will damage life, health, society, the economy, humanity or the planet in the long run, you cannot use Win/Win Assertive sales. The dark side of Emotional Intelligence is the most effective strategy remaining.

And it even sounds good! Everyone will buy.

Assertiveness Training IV: Flexible Assertiveness

The Second Level of Assertiveness
Flexible Assertiveness

We are moving up the ladder away from passive aggressivity and towards the highest levels of assertivity.
Flexible Assertivity is characterised by the willingness to adapt between passive, aggressive and assertive communication strategies to get the assertive objective of the fairest and best outcome for everybody involved. The choice of strategy is conditional and dependent on the recipient. Use the stats and the science for those that have an ounce of understanding and objectivity but be prepared to use other Win/Lose and Lose/Win strategies where they will be more effective. And mix strategies.

It sounds like common sense so why don't the Rigid Assertives do it?

It is because to a Rigid Assertive person, this strategy appears externally as if it is a regression back into passive aggressivity. It is against their ethics. They are trying to forget about emotions and exclude them from their lives. They are not influenced in any way by other people's emotions to assure their Noble Scientific of Objectivity. They do not even care whether they are popular. They are doing the right thing.

Again, what is not seen is the internal process. The Flexible Assertive person has pre-thought before they open their mouth. They have considered the best outcome and the best means to secure that outcome. They are not sympathising, being lead or allowing themselves to be manipulated by the emotions of another. They are in control. They are steering the other person using their emotions.

This is akin to the situation with a passive aggressive person seeing outward assertivity as explained in http://clinicalarts.blogspot.mx/2013/12/selling-best-therapy-assertiveness_3.html. They do not see the inner process of considering the best outcome for both sides before they open their mouths. They are not speaking for egoism or popularity but for the common good. The passive aggressives do not get that. It would never occur to them. They are emotionally drive not thought driven.

The conscious but invisible decision behind Flexible Assertivity is the right option based on knowledge and understanding of the world for the long term common good which now includes emotions. That knowledge and understanding of the world has just got wider, spreading from empirical science to the soft sciences such as clinical psychology and sociology. Their treatment plan has just got a hell of a lot more complex because it includes psychological, emotional and social factors that can be enlisted or that must be overcome for treatment to be optimised.

Flexible Assertivity gets better hard outcomes especially where lifestyle change comes into the picture. Wherever patient participation is involved Flexible Assertiveness scores. It also achieves them with less conflict and greater trust.

And for the first time the clinician is playing the passive aggressive salesperson at their own game. This is not a level playing field. Do not expect those with the morality of selling inferior therapies to be moral about their tactics. Expect them to claim innocence and that they do not know what they are doing.

The morality of Rigid Assertiveness gets in the way again. It believes that patient's should be free to make their own decision without any form of 'emotional manipulation' from Flexible Assertivity. They should just be given the hard evidence, the statistics and trials.

And of course, the Dark Arts salespeople agree. Those that recommend the best therapy should not be allowed to use effective sales strategies to oppose their immorality and profiteering. Doctors should have their hands tied behind their backs and stay blindfolded so that they do not realise what is going on.

The Rigid Assertive mindset ignores these emotional factors and frequently loses because of them. The simple fact is that before the patient has arrived, they have already been got at and been emotionally manipulated so that they cannot see the evidence before their nose. They have simply been exposed to too much propaganda and passive aggressive sales.

Assertivity Training III Level 1 Rigid Assertivity

Assertivity Level 1 Rigid Assertivity

So you are thinking of the best outcome before you open your mouth. It is a start. It is a step along the way.

However, you need something to think with. Assertivity is reliant on the ability to predict outcomes. Prediction comes from knowledge and theoretical understanding of the world. The more you know and understand, the better the predictions become.

A part of the morality of Assertivity is the thirst for objective knowledge and understanding of how the world really works. A thirst for knowledge is part and parcel of the assertive mindset as is its rational and objective application to the real world.

So assertivity is not something that can be turned on and off. It must be lived wholeheartedly. It cannot be turned on in front of one patient and forgotten about in between. It is intrinsically linked to the acquisitioin of knowledge in between.

Learning Rigid Assertivity is the first essential step along the way to the wonders of higher Assertivity. It is a necessary stage to pass through in that process. Its purpose is to erase tendencies towards passive aggressivity before moving onwards.

This is the playground in which the personal culture of objectivity is learned before things get far more complicated. And it is the world of empirical science where everything is relatively easily known and predictable. Outcomes are hard and predictable. Subjective evidence of human perception and feeling is too complex just for now.

It is a means and not an end. It is a personal cultural prepration for objectively delaing with the far more difficult completeness of humanity that includes the psychology of emotions.

The hope is that the best hard outcome will automatically produce the best emotional outcome in the end.

Cure the patient of the disease and they will be happy. It is simplistic but not too far from the truth.

In a Utopian Medical Education world, this stage would be completed during the education of the medical sciences. The student becomes Rigidly Assertive based on scientific theories and hard evidence. Passive aggressivity has been erased and decision making is entirely rational, made on the basis of hard scientific knowledge in a protected academic environment before facing the more complex challenges of the real world and complete human beings. Then once the student goes onto the wards they move to the next step of assertivity using their objective personal culture as a foundation for dealing with psychology and emotions.

And this is where things go wrong. Academic medicine is in power, especially in medical schools and teaching hospitals. It is top of the tree when culturally, empirical science is only half way up the tree of personal development. It is a means to an end not an end in itself.

The role of academic medicine and research is to feed front line clinicians with invaluable information and knowledge for use in the real world. Academic medicine and research should be clearly subservient to the front line clinician. They exist in a supportive role with their fragmented information. Their mindset is an intermediary stage.

The indoctrinated belief that the Rigidly Assertive Mindset of academic medicine and empirical science represents a major block to personal development and doctor patient relationships. It leads to Rigidly Assertive communication, communication that is always assertive and just keeps using the same strategy over and over again even though it does not work.

Rigidly Assertive Communication

The Rigidly Assertive are just as closed minded as the aggressives and passives about the completeness of their worldview. They do not know how those from other mindsets think. They cannot see the world from their angle. Their worldviews are based on different morality and thinking processes.

The morality of the Rigidly Assertive is that the empirical sciences, logic, rationality and statistics are all important and everything. They are thinking right and everybody else is thinking wrong just as a passive aggressive calls a person who considers the predictable hard outcomes as cold, inhuman and immoral. To the Rigidly Assertive, passive aggressives are dangerously subjective and unrealistic and incomprehensible.

This is where the communication breakdown occurs. The use and meaning of language is even different. The Rigid Assertive chooses their words carefully with well defined meaning. The listener is judging those words on whether they sound good in either a moral sense or whether they sound impenetrably intelligent.

If a passive aggressive does not understand the science or statistics of what is being said, they assume that the Rigidly Assertive person is using language as a passive aggressive weapon rather than attempting to communicate really important knowledge for the other to make a rational and informed decision.

They can go passive, assuming their place in the hierarchy, even looking up adoringly to seek favor and please the speaker. However, remember that those of a passive and ingratiating mindset will do exactly the same to the next person. They will sit and nod adoringly in their face and it has no connection with their future actions.

That is until the Lose/Win salesperson gets to them. The passive person is fed up of being passive and unimportant and wants their turn to be egotistical. The Lose/Win salesperson simply offers them the chance to be completely egotistical and think only of themselves for once. They massage their egos and rights with half-truths and lies.

Or they can turn intimidated, resentful and turn aggressive because in their worldview, when somebody does this they are trying to con another person into an decision that does not consider them.

So the aggressive person goes seeking the Lose/Win salesperson to massage their ego and tell them what they want to hear.

People from each mindset judge others and their own communication on their own morality. Passive aggressives do not communicate to share information for decision making purposes and they are entirely blind to the concept that anybody else would do this. They communicate to confirm status, be popular or manipulate obedience.

And because the learning of their mindset works predominantly through immediate personal experience rather than theoretical predictions and evidence, they have no idea at all, no feeling for presented statistics. The concept is alien. Again, they do not understand so they think somebody is using language as a weapon against them.

Improving Communication

The first rule must be the conscious and proactive use of plain English that the patient can understand at their level of education. Remember that even percentages confused some students at school. They may be frightened of numbers.

As soon as the recipient does not understand, the patient doctor communication and trust has been broken. It may not appear so at the time according to the adoration in their eyes but behind that, the passive aggressive will feel that language has been used as a weapon against them.

Selling The Best Therapy: Assertiveness Training II

The Magic of Assertivity

That is what those of a passive aggressive mindset believe assertivity to be. They take the street meaning of the word, getting your own way through some sort of magic of the voice or choice of words that will beat or trick the opponent into immediate agreement without resistance. Such witchery of the voice is their deepest, most aggressive desire.

And that is what it looks like to the amazed onlooker. There is no conflict. Voices are not raised. The other person agrees, even happily, and does what they are told enthusiastically!

And when passive aggressive people try it, it does not work. They may get the short term result that they wanted through trickery and manipulation but sooner or later, the recipient of such strategies works out that they have been had. And now it is time for the payback, backstabbing and revenge.

None of that happens with a truly asertive exchange. The recipient of the exchange stays happy with the speaker and the situation.

So what is this interpersonal magic?

The slight of hand is in fact an invisible slight of mind. It is simply pre-thought, thinking before you open your mouth of the fairest and best outcome for both parties based on knowledge of how the world works in order to predict outcomes.

What the observer dos not see is that the assertive person never asks for 'what they want'.

Well, that is how it starts. Once assertivity becomes a mental habit, it becomes second nature to discard the blind, subjective and often unrealistic personal interests of passive aggressivity and only want the fairest and best outcome for both parties.

And that is why only the doctor who is recommending the best treatment in terms of outcome can be assertive. Those selling second rate therapies are inevitably excluded. They are being passive aggressive and when the outcome occurs or the patient discovers that there was a better therapy, the resentment begins, regardless of whether it was sold on the basis of immediate emotional other-gratification.

Only the doctor communicating the best therapy can be assertive.

But there are ascending levels of assertivity and assertive communication....

The Med Ed Process Between Sympathy and Empathy

Dangerous words, empathy and compassion.

In the commmunity, compassion would be to ease the pain of an arthritic patient and make life easier for them. The compassion of a doctor is to kick their butts, not accept excuses and get them remobilised to live a longer and more fulfilling life. Societal compassion would put them in a wheelchair.

Empathy understands why an obese patient is obese in theoretical terms, learning attitudes, tastes, lack of exercise and stress coping strategies in childhood and proactively combating them for the sake of the patient’s health. Sympathy would be to accept those excuses, how the patient feels and how hard it is. The belief that the obese should love their body and love themselves as a right is sympathy when reality is that they obviously do not. They do not care for themselves.

A sympathetic medical student will already be offended by that last statement. They will easily get trapped in dependent relationships with patients with a transference of power from the patient. The patient is disempowered. The sick role is encouraged.

Sympathy is to share another’s emotions and be pulled into their point of view in order to be popular. Empathy is to maintain an emotional distance and effectiveness for the sake of the patient’s health. And empathy requires knowledge and experience, a knowledge of the world and experience of what patients are going through with their condition and life. It requires fundamental knowledge of how the mind works, basic psychology.

This is the difference between passive aggressive codependency and assertive relationships. The passive aggressive do not see it because they are blind to the morality of assertivity, objectivity and hard outcomes. And they use the word 'empathy' to describe themselves knowing that it is what they should be. They know they should not be blindly sympathetic. That is a bad word.

Their statement is hollow. They just call sympathy empathy. It does not make them empathic. It just stops them from trying or internally needing to change.

And here is the rub. Sympathy does not lead to empathy. They are opposites. Clinging to sympathy prevents the development of empathy. Paradoxically, the path to empathy is to become first the cold, uncaring scientist and academic in order to erase sympathy and learn a culture of objectivity and live it fully to indoctrinate the subconscious mind. That then forms the basis for the knowledge and experience to change to empathy.

Medical education is a cultural process and much as we would all love to believe that there are short cuts, they do not work. In terms of psychological development, medical school is accelerated aging through the life stages to reach the mental age of the wise traditional matriarch or patriarch stereotype who is assured and confidence enough to be objective and solve problems rather than pander to popularity and blame others. At least two life stages, total reversals of character take place in that process, similar to the reversal between baby and child or child and adolescent. It is the depth of change that new parents often describe.

If you believe that who were are now defines us and that it is an inalienable right to stay as we are, you are wrong. Who you are now is only a lifestage. Personal development is maturing through these lifestages to become a better person on the scale between egoism and selfless altruism.

These are complete changes in personality, worldview and morality. The med student usually arrives sympathetic with the common societal values of a passive aggressive worldview and mindset. They change to cold and academic, rigid assertivity. Then they become empathic. They learn Flexible Assertivity and finally Effective Assertivity. They have become a great doctor.

These are the major internal changes that prepare the doctor for the stress of their future and to carry such great responsibility. It is sympathy that makes the new doctor powerless, lacking in confidence and overwhelmed because they are subjected to a constant tug of war with the patient’s emotions.

Selling The Best Therapy: Assertiveness Training I

Assertiveness Training
Part 1 Passive Aggressivity

If there is one, single, central model of psychology worth knowing and mastering, it is the Assertivity Triangle between Aggression, Passivity and Assertive Behaviour and Communication with a little line coming from the apex of Assertiveness that shows the three levels of assertiveness.

And that simple little diagram explains it all, the whole of psychology, in practical and usable terms. These are not just descriptions of individual human interactions but also the fundamental character traits beneath all other systems of personality inventory. Whilst every human mind is capable of each of these, their mind is locked into a particular mindset because each of these psychological descriptions has a central moral code that forms a whole worldview. They each even have their own means of learning that predominates.

1: Aggressive Mindset Morality - I Want
It is my right to get what I want by whatever means regardless of the consequences for others, even myself in the long term. The worldview is based purely on the experience of reward and punishment learning. How the world works does not matter. I just use what works. It is my right to survive in this instant.

2: Passive Mindset Morality - You Want
Goodness is defined in making the person in front of you happy by saying and doing what they want to hear and see. The sphere of concern stops at the person in front of you and pandering to their immediate emotions. Predominant learning is by copying without understanding how the world works beneath. Only emotions matter and only in the short term. And it is all for that self-image of sugary goodness in the eyes of others. And the long term hard outcomes and consequences of immediate other-gratification do not matter. Those that I do not see do not exist. Only the now exists so I can say exactly the opposite to ingratiate myself to the next person and not do what I say I will do.

The Passive Aggressive Dichotomy
I have been good according to the Passive Morality and allowed, even encouraged you to be aggressive and egotistical. I have made you feel all important. You have a debt to me. Now you must be good in my terms. You must allow and encourage me to be aggressive and egotistical.

All passive/aggressive people will judge others on whether they are pander to their emotions and allow/encourage them to be aggressive and egotistical. Goodness becomes defined by whether another person can be emotionally manipulated into submission. Emotionally manipulating another into submission is good because that makes the other person into a good person.

Who cares about the outcome. These people live in a world that makes no sense. There are no rules. There is no truth. And that means that there is no way to predict long term outcomes. They are beyond the control of any human being and simply a matter of luck and chance.

Co-Dependency
And so it shall ever be in co-dependent relationships, give and take. Behaviour is learned and dictated on immediate effects of getting your own way or ingratiating yourself to set up debts and being good according to copying the Passive Mindset of others. There is no concept of long term harm such as disempowering the other, the usual tactic being the destruction of their self-confidence and self esteem so that they cannot abandon you.

The aggressive/passive will do this openly and violently, physical violence, psychological violent or emotional violence. The passive/aggressive will do it insidiously and beneath a sugary, glossy coat of goodness. And because of their worldview and morality, they will be completely blind to the outcome and nothing will be their fault.

Ignorance is bliss and the basis of the passive/aggressive dichotomy in which the light causes the darkness and neither can exist  without the other.

Passive Aggressive Communication
The essential factor to appreciate here is that communication is based on effectiveness as learned from previous experience. Communication does not exist to share knowledge but to get the other person to agree by pulling the listener into their worldview. It is to sympathise with their emotions, the fundamental form of emotional manipulation. And they know what works from previous experience and copying others.

So words have no meaning. They are judged on effectiveness which usually means dividing them into 'good' words, like 'love', 'emotions', 'human', 'compassion' or 'heart' and 'bad' words like 'suffering', 'objectivity', 'inhuman' or 'clinical'.  It does not matter what those words mean, only whether people like them or not and respond to them emotionally. And the less the recipient understands the meaning of the words the better because then you can get away with anything.

Another common strategy of passive aggressive communication is the use of jargon as a weapon. The aim is to be incomprehensible and make the other feel that they will never understand. They must trust to this incredible expert. They cannot question this expert. They are powerless. And it works. They know that from experience. The use of incomprehensible jargon is highly effective at forcing others into submission and getting your way. And it simply does not matter what the words mean. It does not matter if the speaker knows what the words really mean. All that matters is that they effectively intimidate.

Love and Light Healing or Dark Arts of Sales?

I am angry again! It happens when you care about patients and healthcare and open your eyes.

I have just seen the blog http://sciencebasedpharmacy.wordpress.com/2013/11/23/use-of-homeopathy-kills-child/#comment-12469 describing a child dying from receiving 'herbal homeopathy' treatment instead of antibiotics for a streptococcal infection. And the parents are under investigation for child abuse - neglect leading to the death of their child.

I am not sure about that one. Certainly it is taking the concept of child abuse literally, which means that parents have no rights, only responsibilities to the physical and psychological care of their child. By the same logic, we would be locking up all the parents of obese children.

Perhaps this is just for public show and education and will go no further. Those parents have suffered enough. They are going to have to live with causing the death of their child for the rest of their lives. They have suffered enough.

I seriously believe that they are the naive victims of dark side sales strategies that are being used by the 'alternative healers', conspiracists and their media. They are the ones that should be held responsible and accountable for the death of this child.

I want to see the 'homeopath', who may not have been a trained homeopath at all but a complete amateur, in court. The author of any book in their house the influenced this decision should be prosecuted.

I am all for freedom of speech and it is time I had mine too. I want to see Government Mental and Physical Health Warnings splashed across every book and other piece of media that objectively and culturally threatens the mental and physical health of the reader or viewer. It is the right of every reader or viewer to know the whole of the truth.

I am very open minded, unusually so, to alternatives to modern medicine themselves. Evidence Based Medicine does support their occasional use http://clinicalarts.blogspot.mx/2013/11/the-alternative-view-of-evidence-based.html. There is a safe place to use them when a medical diagnosis or non-diagnosis has been made http://clinicalarts.blogspot.mx/2013/11/diagnosis-and-treatment.html. I applaud those alternative health systems that are rising to the challenge of meeting medicine on a level playing field http://clinicalarts.blogspot.mx/2013/11/wiki-eft-wikis-most-vitriolicly-biased.html and whole heartedly believe that sceptics are treating them unfairly.

What I object to is malicious and malevolant sales strategies being used to sell such therapies for personal and societal gain and profit, including the rubbishing of medical professionals and their effective therapies.

I am deeply offended at their claims be holistic and that doctors are not. They claim to be working holistically with body and mind.

What do they know about the body? Ask them where the kidneys or ovaries are. What is that muscle called? What does it actually do?

I am all in favour of physiotherapists, osteopaths and chiropracters as front line clinicians in their area because they actually know what they are talking about and what they are doing.

What do they know of the mind? Ask them what an emotion is. Ask them how they are learned and how they express themselves. They do not know.

Amateur counselling based on blind sympathy is liable to make the problem worse rather than better. But patient's like it.

You would hope that an 'energy worker' would at least know what this energy stuff is. Usually if you ask, you will get some glib, meaningless jargon like 'energy is vibrational frequency'. Press them and they don't know. They can give no usable definition relating to the real world or health, mental or physical.

This is the worst passive aggressive use of language as a weapon of intimidation to show the client's lowly position in the hierarchy of things. This is not the use of communication to share knowledge or understanding but belittle the recipient, disempower them and confirm who is the guru here that is some incomprehensibly knowledgeable that they must be trusted. Just don't question. Pay up.

Apparently, doing a couple of hours  in a Reiki 'workshop' is enough to demand more cash per hour than years of medical training in the UK. Anybody with a name in the healing world can charge more than a surgeon even in the US where the public would have it that doctors are profiteering. Somehow, their therapist is full of love and light and would never do such a thing.

They have disempowered the public from questioning, understanding or analysis of what they are up to by causing mass confusion. Then they gloss it over with image so nobody suspects.

'Energy' does have a meaning. I was taught it in psychology. It is the power to change internally, mentally, in order to adapt to the environment. Positive energy is pep talk that motivates the use of energy. Negative energy is the stress caused by resisting necessary internal and psychological change.

So when a cilent comes complaining of stress, their objective is to vampire their energy. Because the customer does not understand what 'energy' is, they can be told that the 'therapist' is giving them 'energy' when they are removing the necessity to change. Because nobody knows what 'personal' or 'spiritual' 'evolution' is, they can tell their clients that they are evolving. In fact, they are being regressed towards the animal and child stage.

They call it becoming conscious when they are advocating becoming subconscious, less than conscious.

Listen to your heart! I know a little bit about what that means when the sages of old and mystery schools used that pretty phrase. I know what it means to somebody who is informed about what 'the heart' is. It is the altrustic mindset above linear consciousness in the abstract hierarchy of the mind. In that philosophical hierarchy, which was even used by the likes of Galen, the linear mind, normal consciousness, is placed in the upper abdomen. Below it in this abstract, working model, lie the two parts of the subconscious mind, the passive aggressive subconscious mind.

If you know that, you know that this wonderful heart that they are talking about is ultra-objective due to its selflessness and lack of ego. You know that it is ultra-rational compared to linear consciousness. It fulfils the highest philosophical formal logic of consistency with the the entirety of the available evidence. It is more likely to be correct in practical situations than normal consciousness. It outperforms linear arguments that forget the context in real life. It really is worth listening to in real life.

In this way, the past masters of the clinical arts were truly clinicians of heart and soul. And they earned that the hard way, just as the ancient sages and mystery schools suggested. They learned it as a step by step process of elevating consciousness.

So what happens if you say this to a person who is not so informed about what the pretty words mean? The New Age, where unrealistic shortcuts are what sells, would have their blind followers believe that 'Follow your heart' means ignore the rational mind and listen to anything else instead. Listen to your subconscious. Thoughtlessly obey your emotions.

In fact, what they are selling is not 'listening to your heart'. They are telling people to follow the very lowest levels of the mind and to be subconscious, less than conscious. They are getting the to follow their genitals and rectums.

It is all about emotional control and preventing people from listening to the rational mind. This is the darkest art of sales psychology. It is to program the emotions and invalidate logic. It is to discredit objectivity and altruism.

The Noble Scientific Ethic of Objectivity is the exclusion of all emotion and personal interest.

The strategy is simple. The emotions do not understand words. They cannot process words. They just judge them on whether they sound good or bad, nice or nasty. The subconscious cannot judge the rationality of what is told. It just believes what it is told and shown. It makes associations between what it is told and shown regardless of the rationality.

Co-dependency is called love if that is what the subconscious mind is told and shown. It is defenseless.

Oh, how that is abused by the love and lighters. You can sell any egotistical evil when you call it love.

Exactly the same happens with 'rights' and 'civil liberties'. We like rights and civil liberties. They sound good. You can even sell what is frankly child abuse under those headings and the subconscious mind will just doze through it without questioning. Physiological tranquilisation will even sent the conscious mind to sleep so it does not notice or analyse what is happening.

You can sell anything to the subconscious mind and the subconscious person through the incorrect use of meaningless words that sound pretty or sound nasty. That is how it is done. It is brainwashing and disempowering people from thinking for themselves. And the motivation is profit and ego.

So there is evil in this world. Do not believe in innate human goodness. Look at the evidence and distrust. See through the sales pitch and distrust. Look at their motives. They are pure egoism and profiteering.

The only way to combat the dark arts of sales that are being used against modern medicine for the profit and ego of the 'healers' is to add emotional tags to rational explanations. It is the use of good and bad words according to their true meaning. It is the opposite of using these good and bad emotional tags to confuse, irrationalise and sell deathly lies.

There is objective evil in this world. It is damaging others for personal gain and ego. There is honest evil that is openly evil and easy to detect. Worse still is evil that is sold as sugary goodness using the dark arts. That is deceptive evil. It is doubly evil. It is far more dangerous.

Such people cannot be effectively judged on their self image or their telling the world how good they are. It is just dark sales. They must be judged on their actions. They must be judged on the predictable and avoidable consequences and outcomes of those actions.

No, they do not have good intentions. Ignorance is no excuse. If they did really have good intentions, they would find out what they are talking about before they opened their mouths. The problem is that if they found out what they were talking about, it would devastate thir self image. They would have to admit that they were doing evil through wanton neglect and wilful ignorance just to protect their self image.

In every conceivable way, these people are objectively evil. That must be explained openly. Their brainwashing must be resisted and undone at every possible opportunity.

In the end, one of the causes of death for this child was the cultural timidity of the medical profession in speaking this truth. They have been letting the most immoral practitioners of alternative 'health'  and the love and light brigade get away with their deceptive evil for far too long. It is costing lives. It is costing children's lives.

So why not a concerted campaign for those Goverment Health Warnings on any media that corrupts minds and objectively damages is health? And let us get the warning right so that it is effective in preventing more children from dying. Let it say that this product is only a dark sales pitch for the author's ego and profit and the author does not give a damn about the consequences they are causing. Let us make the debate over rationality a matter of morality.
